There are Jamie books and things everywhere. The man is a real entrepreneur with an actual empire. I love it! Jamie has set up this place to get people cooking. Its a place where you can come as a complete novice or a kitchen pro to learn and pick up tips as well as gadgets.
One Million Gold Stars and I opted for the knife skills class with Annegrete. I am known to chop like an idiot sometimes despite me holding supper clubs and cookery classes, I am not so hot on knife skills, so here, I learnt the basics of how to handle a knife, chop, slice, sharpen. And voila, I feel like a chef now! And actually, its really made me want to learn more chef skills. Maybe I should enroll to Fifteen!
We made a prawn salad, a great excuse to chop up all those vegetables. The most useful tip I learned was how to peel a piece of ginger: with a spoon, you can easily scrap off the skin - no more waste, no more pain, just lots of gain! whoot!
Annegrete made sure that when we were cutting spring onions and thinly sliced cabbage leaf that they were not stuck together like a christmas decoration. She attended to each one of us, making sure that we got it right. What a great teacher.
Then we ate together on a table, with Jamie on the TV, like the king of the shop watching over us.
You can book on Jamie Oliver's site here.
Wouldn't it be great if I can hold my Vietnamese cookery classes in a proper school type kitchen like this. I'm off to dream of my new Leluu Boutique like Jamie's Recipease, but in Hackney, its closer to home.
I bought a chicken pie for dinner that day, made by the Recipease kitchen. It was very nice! Wish there is one closer to home.
